SPOILER-FREE ZONE

This is actually the 7th volume of Guardians of the Galaxy. You probably know that they’ve been around for quite some time. Marvel really likes to reboot their series’. This first issue is pretty good. There’s a lot of destruction, though most of it happens off-panel. Starlord and Rocket make questionable decisions, but we all know that’s nothing new. The art is fantastic. I mean look at the cover! We get Rocket in a suit! I recommend this book to any comic book lover.

The gods of Olympus have been reborn. For some reason they are bloodthirsty as heck. Zeus and the other gods are popping in and out of realities, leaving destruction in their wake. Nova interrupts a family vacation the Guardians are taking part in to implore them for help. Moondragon, Rocket and Phyla-Vell all for helping, but Gamora and Groot are tired of the never-ending action of superhero life. Starlord is conflicted, but eventually decides to leave with Rocket and the rest in the middle of the night.

They meet up with Marvel Boy and Nova at what’s left of the Nova Corps HQ. They hatch a plan to infiltrate Olympus. Nova and Phyla-Vell deal with Zeus and two other gods just outside of Olympus. Moondragon uses her telepathy to block the gods from seeing or hearing the invaders. However she fails to block their olfactory senses. This causes Artemis to sense them via smell. She raises the alarm to Hermes, who searches Olympus at the speed of thought. When he randomly runs into Moondragon, her camouflage is rendered ineffective.

With mention of a singularity bomb aboard their ship, the gods send their robots to retrieve it. While this is happening, all of the Guardians involved are pinned down and in dire straits. Marvel Boy is able to save Moondragon by catching Hermes off-guard, but Nova, Rocket, Phyla-Vell and Starlord are still in big trouble. Just as Marvel Boy and Moondragon are giving up hope, they hear from another being who promises to help. You will have to read the comic book to find out who that is!
